#2Red - Syrah

Inspired by the magnificent Chateauneuf du Pape by Beaucastel and originally called Chateauneuf du Bob’s Castle, this intense wine is a Syrah-based Rhone-style blend.  The final blend varies but has recently included Durif, Grenache, Mourvedre and Viognier. The Santa Barbara County White Hawk Vineyards Syrah grapes have been remarkably consistent since our first vintage in 2007.  The official name of this wine became #2Red with the 2012 bottling.

While the intensity of the Syrah fruit has given this wine tremendous appeal in its youth, the structure and complexity of the blend has shown that each vintage evolves beautifully with each passing year.
